LGBT Equality March Revisited 2010

By Charlotte Robinson, October 10, 2010
Robin McGehee, Co-Founder of Get Equal was instrumental
in the Washington D.C National Equality March a year ago this
weekend. We thought we would do a little nostalgia post & ask
our LGBT community what has happened to advance our civil
rights in this past year. When asked last year what she thought the
National Equality March accomplished for our LGBT community
McGehee stated, “If anything it brought attention to the fight for
full federal equality. I think that the show of support was amazing.
I know that for me seeing a continual sea of people coming down
Pennsylvania Avenue, that alone sent a very big message that we
are demanding full federal equality in all fifty states.”
Listen to McGehee's Full 2009 Interview:

Last year President Obama addressed the Human Rights Campaign
dinner the eve before the March. This year’s keynote speaker was
Valerie Jarrett, Senior Adviser to President Obama, who focused her
remarks on the recent suicides among LGBT youth. Unfortunately
the Obama Administration’s record on gay rights has been missing
the target. If you want LGBT youth to stop killing themselves start
by giving them a future with the same rights & freedoms as other
people. Updates to Come…:)
