Republican Leader Ken Mehlman is Gay

It’s so heartwarming when someone like Ken Mehlman,
George W. Bush’s campaign manager in 2004 & a former
chairman of the Republican National Committee, comes out.
In his realization, Mehlman stated, “At least for me, it wasn’t
like there was a light-bulb moment. It was an evolutionary
process. The reality is, it’s taken me 43 years to come to terms
with this part of my life. The process has been something that
has made me a happier & better person. It’s something I wish

2010 Openly Gay Emmy Contenders

This Sunday are the Primetime Emmy® Awards. Happily
there are lots of LGBT & LGBT-Inclusive Emmy Nominees
this year. Openly LGBT actors nominated (alphabetically) are:
Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel (Glee)
Alan Cumming as Eli Gold (The Good Wife)
Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother)
& as Bryan Ryan (Glee)
Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett (Modern Family)
Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester (Glee) & as
Dr. Linda Freeman (Two and a Half Men)
Ian McKellen as Two (The Prisoner)
Lily Tomlin as Marilyn Tobin (Damages)

Eric Stonestreet was nominated for Outstanding Supporting
Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Cameron, Mitchell’s
partner, on "Modern Family" & Will Arnett was nominated for
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as the
openly gay Devin Banks on "30 Rock". "Glee" topped nominations
for comedy series this year with 19 nominations. "Glee" received
nods for openly gay director Paris Barclay, who directed the
episode in which Kurt comes out to his father, as well as for the
show’s openly gay creator Ryan Murphy, who wrote & directed
the pilot. Also Wanda Sykes was nominated for her HBO comedy
special, Wanda Sykes: "I’ma Be Me", which touched upon her
experiences as a recently married lesbian woman raising a family.
The 62 Annual Primetime Emmy Awards air live this Sunday,
August 29, @ 8PM EST/5PM PST on NBC. Check it OUT…:)

GLAAD Ad Media Awards Nominations

UPDATE: GLAAD Media Awards Advertising LGBT Winners
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)
announced the nominees & honorees for the 2nd Annual GLAAD
Media Awards in Advertising Presented by Omnicom Group, Publicis
Groupe & Rokk Vodka. Bryan Batt (Mad Men) will host the event on
Sept. 29, in NYC & Bethenny Frankel (Real Housewives of NYC,
Bethenny Getting Married?) will present. Among the nominees are:
Absolut Vodka's "Exceptional Moments: The Absolut RuPaul"ads,
Levi Strauss & Co.'s "Gay History Month/Logo Leaders" campaign,

Gay Boycott Hits Target

If you believe in equality stop shopping at Target. Here’s why…
According to HRC, the Target Corporation donated $150,000
to an organization supporting a vehemently anti-gay candidate
closely associated with a Christian rock band that advocates
death and violence to gay people. The organization, MN Forward
is running ads supporting Tom Emmer, an anti-gay gubernatorial
candidate in Minnesota. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC),
got on their case. The damage control began and Target entered
good-faith discussions with HRC. After entering into talks Target,
however, withdrew from two tentative agreements with HRC and
informed HRC “that it will take no corrective actions,” according
to an August 16th HRC press release titled, “Target Corporation
Message to LGBT Community: We Won’t Make it Right.”
So join the boycott and stop shopping at Target & Best Buy!
(Best Buy also donated $100,000 to the political group MN Forward.)

Provincetown Carnival Week 2010 Begins

Carnival this year has gone wild with the theme "Jungle Fantasy."
This is an excellent time for primitive escapism. Just select your
jungle costume icon of Tarzan or Jane or beyond. There are lots
of events throughout the week. Take a cruise on the "Banana Boat"
& "Birds of Paradise." Sip a cocktail at the "Tarzan's Temptation"
bar party. Dance in clubs at the "Jungala Jive," "Jungle Heat" &
"Jane Loves Jane" parties. Carnival runs now through August 20th.
Grand Marshals for the parade on Thursday are celebrity comedians
Margaret Cho & Bruce Vilanch who are also be performing during
Carnival Week at Vixen, 336 Commercial Street.

Mexico States to Recognize Gay Marriages

Updated: Opponents Appeal to Stop Gay Marriages. Read More...
Gay Marriage Resumes in California on August 18th!!
Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that gay marriages
will resume while his landmark decision in the case makes its way
to an appeals court starting on August 18th.
GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios stated,
"Lifting the stay does one thing: it provides gay & lesbian couples
across California the protections they need to take care of each
other. Once Americans see these couples marry, understand the
barriers they faced & the protections they deserve, our country
will move closer to full equality.” Updates to Come…:)
On Tuesday Mexico's Supreme Court ruled that all 31 states
must recognize same-gender marriages performed in its capital,
Mexico City. The decision does not mean those states begin
marrying gay couples in their territory. In a 9-2 decision, the
tribunal cited an article of the constitution requiring states to
recognize legal contracts drawn up elsewhere.
Mexico City's same-gender marriage law began in March & extends
to wedded gay couples the right to adopt children, to jointly apply
for bank loans, to inherit wealth & to be covered by their spouses'
insurance policies. America has a lot of catching-up to do….

Mel Gibson's Dad Calls Pope 'Gay'

The homophobic Mel Gibson family continues to rant.
Mel Gibson’s father told listeners on a radio show that
the pope is gay & the Roman Catholic Church isn’t fighting
gay marriage “because half of the people there in the Vatican
are queer.” Since when has the Catholic Church stopped
opposing marriage equality?? This guy is really whack!
Hutton Gibson appeared on the Political Cesspool Radio
Program & accused the Catholic Church of failing to tackle
homosexuality. Following the interview, he told
RadarOnline.com the Vatican is full of child molesters.
In a 2003 interview the 91-year-old hate-monger made claims
the Holocaust had never happened & that the September 11,
2001, attacks were perpetrated by remote control. Hutton
Gibson regularly attends his son’s alternative Catholic Church
in Malibu, CA. However, he wouldn't comment on the allegations
by Mel’s former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, that the actor
had abused her. Now we know why Mel is such a charmer....:)

She is the successor to retired Justice John Paul Stevens.

by Chief Justice John Roberts. Let’s see what happens
if & when the unconstitutionality of DOMA section 3 &
California’s Prop 8 case reaches the Supreme Court.

PROP 8 OVERTURNED!!

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin & Jarrett Barrios, President
of The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD),
Statements on Prop 8 Overturn…Updates to Come...:)
San Francisco: Wednesday, U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn
R. Walker decided that gays & lesbians have a constitutional
right to marry, striking down Proposition 8. He said that
Proposition 8 passed by voters in November 2008, violated
the federal constitutional rights of gays & lesbians to marry
the partners of their choice. His ruling could be appealed
to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals & then up to the
U.S. Supreme Court. Let’s hope that is prevented & gay
marriage resumes in California...Updates to Come:)
