Happy Easter to Our LGBT Families

In America there’s lots of activities taking place over the next couple of days to celebrate Easter. In New Orleans the 13th annual Official Gay Easter Parade takes place at 4:30P in the French Quarter. Led by Easter Grand Marshals XIII Darwin Reed & Rhonda Roget, this year's parade promises more than 30 carriages, wagons & trolleys, plus bands, cars & trucks. The annual Easter parade is a chance for New Orleans' gay community to demonstrate their party spirit & creativity. Riders & marchers will be attired in everything from tuxedos & summer suits to special Easter dresses & of course, Easter bonnets. The parade begins at North Rampart & St. Ann streets & heads into the French Quarter from there. Tomorrow is the infamous Easter Egg Roll at the White House. LGBT couples & their children will be attending. Jarrod Scarbrough & Les Sewell are traveling from Albuquerque, New Mexico to attend with their 8 year old daughter have an agenda. They will seek out President Obama at Monday's Easter Egg Roll & ask him to sign an executive order banning workplace discrimination by any federal contractor on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. GetEQUAL & Freedom to Work are 2 orgs backing Scarbrough & Sewell, said in an announcement, “Recent reports indicate that this Executive Order has been approved by both the Department of Justice & the Department of Labor & is simply awaiting the president's signature. The push by Scarbrough & Sewell comes on the heels of a sign-on letter by 72 House Democrats, dated April 2, that calls on President Obama to sign the Executive Order. So enjoy your Easter holiday & make sure you share your commitment for LGBT Equality wherever you are with your friends & families….HAPPY EASTER!!
