Provincetown Women's Week Begins

Every year starting on Columbus Day in October Women’s Week begins with events to ease you into a Provincetown state of mind & runs now through Oct 14th. Women’s Week in Provincetown, Massachusetts means many things to many women. Whether it’s getting to see the best in lesbian entertainment or just getting to walk down Commercial Street holding hands with that special someone there’s no festival on the planet that celebrates gay women like Women’s Week. The Welcome Party Monday night begins with a celebratory mood that extends through the following Sunday including their infamous Saturday Night Dance Party. There are over 150 separate events, workshops, performances, gatherings & parties to choose from. This year's Woman of the Year 2012 being honored is Irene Rabinowitz. Irene has been the Executive Director of Helping Our Women since 1995. She is a native of Providence, Rhode Island who lived in New York City for 16 years before moving to Provincetown in 1986. Prior to working at Helping Our Women, she was a Case Manager & Housing Program Director at the Provincetown AIDS Support Group now the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod from 1989 to 1995.
