Spirit of Justice Award Dinner

By Charlotte Robinson, October 09, 2013
Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders are celebrating the 14th annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner on October 25th at the Boston Marriott Copley Hotel. This fabulous event attracts over 1,000 attendees from the Greater Boston area & beyond. The Spirit of Justice Award recognizes individuals whose work & achievements reflect a profound dedication to our ideal of a just society. This year on the 10th anniversary of the landmark Goodridge decision, Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall was enthusiastically selected for her life-long commitment to justice, as evidenced by her fight against apartheid, her belief in civil rights for all people & her dedication to the rule of law. It was an historic decision to rule that gay & lesbian couples in Massachusetts should be treated as equal citizens. It shifted the national dialogue & re-energized the LGBT equality movement. Lee Swislow, Executive Director of GLAD stated, “The Goodridge decision not only transformed the lives of LGBT people in our Commonwealth, it changed the country, shone light on the lives of LGBT people & set us all on an amazing journey. We are thrilled to honor Chief Justice Marshall not only for this eloquent & historic opinion, but for her lifelong commitment to justice for everyone.” This is a great opportunity to network & hear about GLAD’s inspiring work in the fight to end discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, HIV status, gender identity & expression. The Spirit of Justice Award Dinner begins with a Reception at 6:30P followed by Dinner 7:30P & Dancing at 10P with DJ Mocha. Business Attire Is Suggested :)
