National LGBTQ Give OUT Day

By Charlotte Robinson, April 19, 2018
Give OUT Day is the only national day of giving for our LGBTQ community & takes place on Thursday, April 19th from Midnight to 11:59P EST. This 24-hour online fundraising event unites the LGBTQ community from all 50 States, Puerto Rico & D.C. to raise critically needed funds. Throughout the day-long event thousands of people will make gifts to support a vast array of LGBTQ nonprofits across the country, ranging from the arts to social services agencies, advocacy groups to sports leagues, community centers to health care nonprofits. Since its inception in 2013, over 33,000 individual donors have contributed more than $4 million & supported more than 600 different organizations in every part of the country. Give OUT Day has become an important tool in helping raise awareness & funds for local LGBTQ nonprofits. In 2017 it successfully raised more than $750,000 from more than 10,000 individual donors. Nikole Pagan of Give OUT Day stated, “I’ve been moved by the stories of so many of our participating organizations that have used the day to further their own mission & to connect with new donors. There is no part of the country where LGBTQ lives have not been changed for the better by the incredible work the Give OUT Day participating organizations are doing each day. Nonprofits are the backbone of LGBTQ America & at a time where our rights are once again under assault, these organizations are using Give OUT Day as a vehicle to resist & to rebuild.” Give OUT Day is a project of Horizons Foundation. Founded as a community foundation of, by & for LGBTQ people, Horizons has been supporting LGBTQ nonprofit organizations, leaders & donors for more than 38 years.
