Have the 2008 Presidential Elections taken a toll on Broadcast Journalism or is it just more of the fear-factor censorship? For years the reality of TV ratings & bottom line has robbed news divisions of their distinctive voices. Sadly, this has become too evident of a trend. For the most part, we seem to be left with overpaid on-camera personnel that are so interchangeable, you can hardly tell them apart. As we flip the channels all we hear are the same repetitive stories delivered by 2 dimensional talkingheads. Who's writing this script anyways?? :) Then they ponder why they're losing their audience......

Al Gore Comes Out for Gay Marriage.... :)
Here's Al Gore's statement about supporting Gay Marriage....
“I think it’s wrong for the government to discriminate against people because of that person’s sexual orientation. I think that gay men & women ought to have the same rights as heterosexual men & women—to make contracts, to have hospital visiting rights, to join together in marriage, & I don’t understand why it is considered by some people to be a threat to heterosexual marriage to allow it by gays & lesbians. Shouldn’t we be promoting the kind of faithfulness & loyalty to one’s partner regardless of sexual orientation? Because if you don’t do that, then to that extent you’re promoting promiscuity-- you’re promoting all the problems that can result from promiscuity. And the loyalty & love that two people feel for one another when they fall in love ought to be celebrated & encouraged & shouldn’t be prevented by any form of discrimination in the law.”
Isn't it interesting how brave Al Gore can be when he's not running for office or is he......?? :)

The Gay Marriage Debate Heats Up...
As we begin 2008, one of the most controversial issues is whether LGBT citizens should be granted equal rights, benefits & protections as heterosexual citizens. This is a 'no brainer'. Of course they should. On the Gay Marriage scene there is a misconception that Civil Unions provide the same protections as marriage. They do not. Civil Unions provide about one third of the protections of marriage. You probably heard that New Hampshire has been added to the few states that allow Civil Unions. Worldwide Civil Union ceremonies have been on the decline because the LGBT community wants the same protections as their hetero counterparts. We live in a country dedicated to the ideal that all citizens are created equal. What part of the word 'equal' don't they get? :)

L-Word Season 5 Takes on Our Issues...
Bravo to the L-Word this season! In their midst of Lesbian erotica the producers manage to touch base on Don't Ask Don't Tell....
with our fave Lesbian in the Military Tasha played by Rose Rollins...
& then Shane played by Kate Moennig touches on gay marriage while doing the hair for a hetero wedding party's female members. The only objection I found was with the misinformation when one of the bride's sisters asked Shane's sexual preference & then stated that "Gay Marriage" will never happen in this country. This could have been a cool opportunity for Shane to educate her about Massachusetts. Instead it wasn't addressed & the scene just developed into another display of Shane's conquests.
Then there are a few more Lesbian cliche scenes with Women In Prison & of course they're making a big deal about the Lesbian U-Hauling thing, but for the most part this season has great potential. Through the Writer's Strike @ least for we have a few months with something decent to watch.... :) Bravo to the L-Word this season!
