Obama Defends "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Exclusive Audio Interview with Phil Siegel,
Producer of "Coming Out in the 1950s" a new

video in which teen journalists interview gay
elders
about their coming out experiences
@ OUTTAKE VOICES™

In the aftermath of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” being ruled
unconstitutional in Federal Court the Obama Administration
continues to appeal the Log Cabin Republicans vs. The United
States of America decision despite the fact that ‘Don’t Ask Don’t
Tell’ has been repealed & signed into law. This past week the
Obama Administration decided not to appeal DOMA Section 3
which was also found unconstitutional in Boston Federal Court.
Recently we chatted with Richard Emmanuel about this situation
& he stated, “Again these are distractions. It’s a way that Obama
doesn’t have to take a stand. The President does not have to take
a stand, his cabinet & the people surrounding him basically do
not have to take a stand. I just find all this stuff disappointments
& lies." Updates to Come...:)

Is DOMA Headed to Congress?

Exclusive Audio Chat with Richard Emmanuel
Visionary & Gay Activist on the truth about our

LGBT Civil Rights
& Obama @ OUTTAKE VOICES™

Massachusetts State Attorney General Martha Coakley praised
the Obama administration's decision Wednesday to not appeal
the unconstitutionality DOMA Section 3 calling it an "important
victory" for same-gender couples. Coakley said the decision
affirms Massachusetts' first-in-the-nation push to allow gay
couples to marry. She said the decision will help ensure that all
married couples enjoy the same rights & benefits under the law.
However, Coakley cautioned that the letter by U.S. Attorney
General Eric Holder leaves open the possibility that Congress
could decide on its own to continue to defend the law in court.
In the letter to House Speaker John Boehner, Holder said the
law was constitutionally indefensible because it violates the
equal protection clause of the Fifth Amendment. There was a
March 1st hearing before the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
scheduled. That hearing was to give the court the chance to
hear the Dept. of Justice's appeal of an earlier ruling by a single
federal judge who sided with the state. It's expected that the
court will postpone that hearing until it becomes clear whether
Congress will seek to continue the case. Updates to Come…:)

DOMA Begins to Crumble

UPDATE: Is DOMA Headed to Congress?
Feb 23rd: Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis) stated,
We have one small, but very significant, step in the ultimate
effort to either see the Defense of Marriage Act repealed by
an act of Congress or declared unconstitutional by a court in
the United States. This is progress and I’m delighted with
the Attorney General’s choice.”
President Obama has finally called the Defense of Marriage
Act (DOMA) Section 3 unconstitutional & has called on the
Department of Justice to end its appeal of 2 Boston based
cases. Section 3 of DOMA denies all gay couples 1,138 federal
rights even though they are legally married in their states.
The Obama administration had faced criticism for appealing
the 2 Massachusetts-based challenges to the law where in both
cases were found Section 3 unconstitutional by a Federal Judge.
Time will tell if this will effect all states where gay marriage is
the law or recognize gay marriage. Updates to Come…:)

Lady Gaga Makes Target Gay Friendly

UPDATE: Lady Gaga Ends Target Deal…Read More...
This is another reason we love Lady Gaga. Her new album,
"Born This Way" which comes out in May, not only speaks to
our LGBT community, she has struck a deal with Target that
depends on the company to amend their homophobic ways.
The singer reportedly met with Target’s “entire executive staff”
to convey her expectations for the company before agreeing to
a distribution partnership for her new album. Lady Gaga was
concerned as we all were about Minneapolis-based Target giving
$150,000 in August to support MN Forward. MN Forward is the
political action committee that backed Republican Tom Emmer,
who opposes gay marriage, in his failed 2010 run for Minnesota
governor. Target partnered with Gaga to offer an exclusive edition
of her new album. The deluxe edition includes 3 additional studio
songs & 5 remixes & will be available only at Target.com & stores
nationwide. Fans can preorder the deluxe album until midnight
on Saturday. So if you absolutely have to step into Target, you
can feel less guilty…:)

Was Abraham Lincoln Gay?

New Exclusive Audio Chat w/ Richard Emmanuel

& Obama @ OUTTAKE VOICES™

The theory that Abraham Lincoln was gay provides vital info
& hope for LGBTQ teens. What a role model Abe would be.
At the heart of the speculation is Lincoln's close relationship
with Joshua Speed, a Springfield, IL merchant who helped
the young lawyer by allowing him to share his upstairs room
& bed for four years. Speed remained a lifelong friend, despite
his support of slavery & the two sent warm, affectionate letters
for years, even after Lincoln moved into the White House.
"There's no question in my mind that Abraham Lincoln was
a gay man & a totally gay man. It wasn't just a period, but
something that went on his whole life", said Gay Activist
Larry Kramer.....Read More.... Happy President's Day!!

Facebook Adds LGBT Relationship Status

Facebook is adding 'In a Civil Union' & 'In a Domestic Partnership'
options to user profiles. The option is now available for users in the
U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France & Australia. In October
2010, Facebook partnered with GLAAD & other national LGBT
orgs to create "Network of Support," an educational initiative that
works to combat anti-LGBT cyberbullying. GLAAD also worked
with Facebook to reshape the way that the site responds to hateful,
anti-LGBT comments posted on public pages. Facebook's "Network
of Support" is comprised of five leading LGBT advocacy orgs in
conjunction with MTV's "A Thin Line" campaign, including GLAAD,
GLSEN, HRC, PFLAG & The Trevor Project.

When Darren Criss appeared on Glee, he shared a flirtatious
moment becoming a rumored love interest, for Chris Colfer’s
role of Kurt Hummel. By the end of that on-screen meeting,
Criss belted out his own version of Katy Perry’s “Teenage
Dream.” The next day, Glee’s version of the song shot up the
iTunes charts, becoming the most downloaded song yet from
a show that had recently surpassed the Beatles’ record for most
singles to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100. Criss knew playing gay
would raise immediate questions about his own sexuality.
Initially he thought he would play it coy but soon came out as
straight. Criss had plenty of exposure to the gay community
having performed in local musicals in his hometown, San
Francisco. As a performer, Criss quickly befriended cast mates
in their 20s & 30s. “I was staying out much later than most kids
after shows, going to restaurants,” Criss remembers. “I was
friends with older guys–they were who I looked up to. It wasn’t
until later that I put together that they were gay.”
Will Criss’ Blaine & Colfer’s Hummel ever wind up together?
