Gay Activist & Ally Lady Gaga accepted the invitation
of U.S. Ambassador to Italy David H. Thorne to join
the gay pride parade Saturday in Rome’s Circus
Maximus where ancient Romans watched chariot races
& gladiators fight to the death. (Interesting bit of history
for a venue.) He issued the invitation jointly with EuroPride
organizers who hold annual gay pride festivals in European
cities. “I am proud to have an Italian-American artist of her
stature visit Rome & we look forward to the concert,” He said.
The 25-year-old superstar was born Stefani Joanne Angelina
Germanotta in NYC. Her latest CD “Born That Way” sold a
million copies in its first week. There will be a performance
as well for all her ‘Italian Little Monsters following the parade.
Happy Pride Everyone!!

I am delighted to hear that Lady Gaga has agreed to participate in EuroPride Roma 2011. Lady Gaga has been a public advocate for LGBT issues, which are very important to us. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says regularly: ‘Human rights are gay rights, and gay rights are human rights.’ I am proud to have an Italian-American artist of her stature visit Rome, and we look forward to the concert.
