No Gay Marriage Then No GOP
By Charlotte Robinson, January 09, 2012
As we head into the New Hampshire GOP presidential
primary all the candidates are against marriage equality.
Jon Huntsman who is trailing in the polls however does
support civil unions for our LGBT community. Obama
also supports civil unions but is still evolving on gay
marriage. However as he evolves his administration has
introduced The Respect of Marriage Act that would repeal
the Defense of Marriage Act which denies legally married
gay couples 1,138 federal rights of marriage including a
hefty average of $5000 more in their annual federal taxes
than heterosexual married couples pay. It’s early in the
2012 presidential campaign so lets hope that the 2012
Republican & Democratic candidates all learn to embrace
that Gay Rights are Human Rights & Human Rights are
Gay Rights.
Update: All 9 members of the Democratic congressional
delegation from New Jersey have signed a letter urging
their colleagues in the state legislature to support the
marriage equality bill being introduced this week.
