UPDATE: Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has signed a measure legalizing gay marriage joining 7 other states & the District of Columbia. This is a great day for our LGBT People!
Governor Chris Christie better start thinking about finding another job because New Jersey voters support for gay marriage has reached a record high in the days after the homophobic Republican Governor vetoed legislation to legalize marriage equality. A Quinnipiac University poll shows registered voters favor gay marriage 57 percent to 37 percent according to the survey. “What’s left, for now anyway, is a political issue,” stated Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute in Hamden, Connecticut. In Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is set to sign a bill today that would make his state the 8th where gay marriage is the law along with Washington, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, New Hampshire & Vermont, plus the District of Columbia. Also support for gay marriage rises among California voters. A new Field Poll finds an accelerating shift is under way among California voters on gay marriage with 59 percent now in favor of marriage equality which is up from 49 percent in 2009. Hopefully the Prop 8 supporters will get the message that they’re falling way behind in their hate messaging & will stop their ridiculous campaign to appeal the California United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit that found Prop 8 unconstitutional. Of course on the federal front DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act drags on & denies our LGBT families 1,138 federal rights of marriage that heterosexual couples receive.
