GLAAD Media Awards Nominees

Award season is definitely upon us. GLAAD the global LGBT media advocacy organization has announced the nominees for its 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize & honor media for their fair, accurate & inclusive representations of our LGBT community & the issues that affect our lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD's work to accelerate acceptance of the LGBT community. Sarah Kate Ellis said GLAAD CEO & President stated, “For nearly three decades, the GLAAD Media Awards have propelled inclusion in media & driven LGBT acceptance forward. This year’s nominees have raised the bar for creating thoughtful & diverse LGBT images & storylines, deepening audiences’ understanding of LGBT people & accelerating acceptance across the world.” Among the nominees are: Academy Award nominees Carol & The Danish Girl; Golden Globe nominee Grandma; Film Independent Spirit Award nominees Appropriate Behavior & Tangerine; FOX’s hit drama Empire & Netflix’s Sense8, Master of None, Orange Is the New Black & Grace & Frankie; Amazon’s Transparent; HBO's Bessie; ABC’s 20/20 for its groundbreaking Diane Sawyer interview with Caitlyn Jenner; E!’s I Am Cait & TLC’s I Am Jazz, both reality programs headlined by transgender people. The GLAAD Media Awards are presented by Delta Air Lines, Hilton & Ketel One Vodka. Ceremonies will be held in Los Angeles on April 2nd at The Beverly Hilton & we’ll be covering the Red Carpet in New York on May 14th at the Waldorf Astoria New York for OUTTAKE VOICES.
