LGBTQ Hispanic Heritage Gala Event

By Charlotte Robinson, October 01, 2019
Celebrating LGBTQ Latinos during Hispanic Heritage Month, Angelica Ross star of “Pose” & “American Horror Story 1984” will be honored with Trailblazer Award on Oct. 12th at the 9th annual Celebrate Orgullo's gala "The Art of Fashion" happening at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU at 10975 SW 17th Street in Miami, FL. The Celebrate Orgullo festival also features a fashion & AIDS forum for LGBTQ artists & fashion designers with queer-cultural events that take place throughout Miami’s artistic enclaves from October 1st to 15th. Herb Sosa, CEO of Coalition | Coalición Unida stated, "Our 9th annual Celebrate Orgullo Festival celebrates the art of fashion, honoring the LGBT designers & artists that push on towards equality for all. As we honor this year the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprisings, we reflect on the contributions of Silvia Rivera & Marsha P. Johnson, pioneers who symbolize the heart & soul of our mission. The marches on the streets & on the runways continue today because we are still not equal. Because we are still attacked, beaten & killed for who & how we love. This year’s events carry the torch of creativity forward, for the future generations of LGBT creatives who will continue to impact our culture." The Art of Fashion Gala will be a tour de force of LGBTQ artists & designers, featuring rising stars who are Hispanic including Bo Khasamarina, Chloe Martini, Chaplin Tyler, Miguel Rodez, Ralf Vidal & Juan Mantilla. This year’s recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Gala will be local activist Melba De Leon. Her love for the community & passion to help others will be recognized & celebrated.
