LGBTQ Out & Equal Workplace Summit

By Charlotte Robinson, October 15, 2019
A week after the Supreme Court hear arguments regarding 3 LGBTQ employment discrimination cases the Out & Equal Workplace Summit is taking place at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor located across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. in Fort Washington, Maryland from now through October 17th. Out & Equal is the world’s premier nonprofit organization dedicated to LGBTQ workplace equality & partners with Fortune 1000 companies & government agencies to provide executive leadership development, comprehensive training, consultation & professional networking opportunities that build inclusive & welcoming work environments. Erin Uritus, CEO of Out & Equal stated, “Today more than 700 Fortune 1000 companies are sending 6,000 people to Washington for the Out & Equal Workplace Summit. Successful companies understand that workplaces that foster a culture of belonging for the transgender engineer or the bisexual accountant are investing in their own innovation & longevity. And guess what, it’s not just about LGBTQ people, but our myriad friends & families who simply won’t work for companies that are apathetic or discriminate. We will not rest until showing up for work is no longer an act of courage for LGBTQ people, but we can truly be OUT & equal.” Some of the workshops scheduled to take place at the summit include, Transmen & Transmasculine Employees: Having Your Voices Heard; Measuring Success: LGBTQ Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace; Leading from the Bottom Up as Young, Queer Professionals; Battle for Diversity: Why You Don’t Have (Enough) LGBTQ+ Talent; & Queer Culture Project: Six LGBTQ Trends & Why They Matter.
