Provincetown Thanksgiving Weekend

By Charlotte Robinson, November 29, 2019
Instead of heading to the malls our Black Friday LGBTQ destination tradition is Provincetown, Massachusetts for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend where the pilgrims first landed in 1620 almost 400 hundred years ago. The whole town is on sale & you can find great gift choices all around town, since many of the stores are having end of season sales & don't miss the holiday Crafts Fairs happening on both Friday & Saturday providing unique gifts for everyone. Then Friday afternoon from 3:30P to 5:30P Drag Bingo takes place with Tiki Bronstein & hosted by the Provincetown Business Guild at the Crown & Anchor supporting a great organization. After dark Saturday offers the anticipated pagan treat of the Annual Lighting of the Lobster Pot Tree. Now in its 19th year Provincetown artist Julian Popko & family build the unique tree right in the heart of Provincetown's Lopes Square. Stacked with over 100 real lobster traps borrowed from local lobstermen, the tree is lit with thousands of fabulous decorations & holiday lights. There are also plenty of restaurants open & you can dance the night away at The A House or the Retro-Active Video Lounge at The Crown. Also at the Crown on Saturday November 30th check out Thanksgiving Drag Leftovers! Lakia Mondale, Roxy Pops & Ania Bangkoks present a post-Thanksgiving Drag Revue in this special One Night Only production. Remember Thanksgiving doesn't have to be a drag unless you want it to be. Tickets are $29.
