LGBTQ Event To Address Gun Violence

By Charlotte Robinson, July 01, 2020
LGBTQ celebrities & leaders are teaming up to headline for a virtual event to raise awareness & funds to support LGBTQ advocacy against gun violence. Peter Paige (Queer as Folk), Kevin McHale (GLEE) & Nicole Maines (Supergirl) will join the executive directors of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center & Guns Down America for an online event on July 9th at 8:30P EST. Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center stated, "Five years ago, the attack at Pulse nightclub that brutally took away 49 LGBTQ lives was a wakeup call for many in the LGBTQ movement that we need to increase our advocacy against gun violence but since Pulse, LGBTQ people continue to be killed by gun violence. That's why this conversation on July 9th is so important." Igor Volsky, Executive Director of Guns Down America concluded, "LGBTQ Americans are disproportionately impacted by gun violence & have led the fight in building safer communities with fewer guns. We're so proud to partner with Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center to host an event focusing on how we can fight for stronger gun laws & raise the standard of gun ownership in the United States." Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center provides arts, health, youth & pride programs to strengthen & support the LGBT community across the Greater Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. Guns Down America (GDA) is building a future with fewer guns by straining the gun industry & its lobby & building political & cultural support for policies that will keep us safe from gun violence. Tickets for the July 9th virtual event start at $20 & proceeds will benefit the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center & Guns Down America.
