By Charlotte Robinson, May 03, 2022
Family Equality the nation’s leading organization advocating for current & future LGBTQ families announced they will be honoring Jordan Roth, Richie Jackson, Lydia Gray-Holifield & Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, composer & lyricist Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop) at their Night at the Pier gala that takes place at Pier Sixty in NYC on May 16th. The cast of global sensation SIX will also be performing live at the event. Stacey Stevenson, CEO of Family Equality stated, “I am thrilled to kick off my first ever Night at the Pier by honoring Jordan Roth & Richie Jackson, two trailblazers who use their talent & visibility to raise awareness for the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. I couldn’t imagine a more fitting Hostetter-Habib Family Award winner than Lydia Gray-Holifield. By increasing visibility for Black & Brown LGBTQ+ parents, helping eliminate barriers & creating new pathways to accessing community needs, Lydia is a model of so many of the core values that guide this organization: advocacy, equity, pride, & joy—just to name a few.” With more than 300 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced across the country, Family Equality’s Night at the Pier gala raises awareness for the issues LGBTQ+ families face, garners support for the organization’s work & honors advocates in the movement for LGBTQ+ equality. Previous honorees include Katie Couric, Lisa Cholodenko, Lee Daniels, Chely Wright & Lauren Blitzer-Wright, Scott Ellis, Sergio Trujillo & performances by Dear Evan Hansen, The Prom, Ain’t Too Proud & many more.
The 2022 Night at the Pier Honorary Chairs are Daryl Roth & Nick Scandalios & this year’s event chairs are Luigi Caiola, Merritt Johnson, Samantha Lippitt, Jeannie Uyanik, & Jason Weinberg. For More Info…
