Jane Lynch Joins Amway Boycott

We got this story in from Fred Karger’s group Rights Equal Rights that Glee star Jane Lynch has signed on to the global boycott of Amway Corporation in response to company president Doug DeVos' personal donation of $500,000 to a conservative group that has worked to ban gay marriage. “Lynch grabbed the pen out of my hand & signed away,” said Fred Karger, explaining the actress’ response when he asked for her support of the boycott he started in early August. The boycott extends to parent company Alticor & all other DeVos family businesses including the Orlando Magic basketball team. Karger said he met Lynch when she spoke at a recent event to raise money to fight efforts by the National Organization of Marriage to reverse bills that allow gay marriage in Washington, Maine, Maryland & preventing a constitution amendment against marriage equality in Minnesota. Lynch is married to Lara Embry, a clinical psychologist & the couple have two children. " An Amway spokeswoman said, "As private citizens the DeVos family supports causes & organizations that advocate for policies aligned to their personal beliefs." The company declined to say whether it has felt any impact from the boycott. Amway has responded by saying DeVos has a right to do what he wants to with his personal money.

If You're Gay Come Out Today

Coming OUT is definitely a rite of passage for our LGBT community. We must be visible to be successful in gaining our civil rights. As Harvey Milk said, “Burst down those closet doors once & for all, stand up & start to fight.” National Coming Out Day is celebrated on Oct. 11th in the USA & Oct.12th in the UK. So today & every day from now on be Out & Proud! My coming out story: I remember how difficult it was for me. I tossed & turned about telling my parents. Then their was this weekend when my girlfriend & I stayed overnight at my parents beach house. We were playing the game of separate bedrooms. The rooms were divided by the only bathroom in the house. It was early in the morning & I was having work anxieties so I got into bed with Sue to talk about it. Within minutes the door swung open & my Dad on the way to the bathroom caught us in bed together. We weren't doing anything but he knew & ran to tell my Mom.....I was pretty much disowned for a year but they got over it. Before my mom passed-away she said how lucky she was that all her children had found someone to love...:)

Gay Marriage Activists For Obama

If you’re worried about the recent tight presidential polling numbers a gay activist couple Luke Montgomery & Eduardo Cisneros are hoping that highlighting President Obama’s support for marriage equality with their “Legalize Love Bug” Tour will help. To create an attention getting & dramatic campaign image the duo have covered every inch of their 2010 VW Beetle in over 1,000 “Legalize Love” Obama bumper stickers with the “O” in “love” being replaced with the Obama logo. With 4 states voting on gay marriage on their November ballot they set out on a 2,400 mile cross-country journey from their L.A. home to campaign on the ground in Maryland, Maine, Minnesota & Washington. In each state the activists will be clad in blue “Legalize Love” T-shirts & registering voters, passing out free “Legalize Love” bumper stickers, wristbands & T-shirts & holding press conferences geared at drawing media attention to Obama’s support of marriage equality. Eduardo Cisneros stated, “These are blue states that are voting for Obama & the ‘Legalize Love Bug’ will help make sure that the President’s support for equal marriage is heard loud and clear so they also vote for equality. Because of a tight national race, the President might not be able to hammer home his support for gay marriage so we are stepping in to make sure that message gets out no matter what.” Luke Montgomery added, “Obama has been a game-changer on this issue & we’re campaigning our hearts out because we believe that the President is the secret weapon to move & inspire voters. We want to get people involved with the campaign at LegalizeLoveBug.com so they can be a part of making marriage equality history in this election.”

2 Million Pledged Against Gay Marriage

An anonymous donor has pledged 2 million dollars to the anti gay homophobic group the National Organization for Marriage to defeat marriage equality at the ballot next month in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota & Washington. Here's what NOM just said in an email to their supporters: "This new $2 million matching grant challenge will help us compete even more effectively with Obama’s billionaire gay marriage activists & wealthy Hollywood celebrities who are determined to impose homosexual marriage as the law of the land." NOM has never played by campaign finance rules but a secret two million dollar donor is low even for them. Every one of those dollars will be spent to demonize gay families & attempting to defeat the freedom to marry in battleground states. As you know these important ballot states Maine, Maryland & Washington are very close to passing gay marriage. Minnesota is trying to keep the state from changing their constitution against marriage equality. Freedom to Marry is asking to help take away NOM’s last desperate talking point by donating $25, $50 or what you can afford to help combat NOM’s scare tactics with the truth about our gay families. While NOM uses secret donors to attack our LGBT community your support could help secure our first-ever marriage victories at the ballot on November 6th. Updates to Come...:)
