On May 9th hundreds of LGBTQ organizations & thousands of individuals will be participating nationwide in Give OUT Day. This is an effort to not only support the work of the organizations you think are having the biggest impact on LGBT equality but also to tell your friends about that support in a public way. By participating in this national effort people across the country who may have never given to LGBT organizations before might be inspired to do so. Jason Franklin, Bolder Giving’s Executive Director stated, “Less than 5 percent of the LGBTQ community currently gives to LGBTQ causes, according to research from the Horizons Foundation & the Movement Advancement Project. Give OUT Day promotes a new way of giving by harnessing the power of social media & Razoo’s crowd funding platform to inspire thousands to contribute within a 24-hour giving challenge. Give OUT Day aims to raise awareness of the need to support LGBTQ nonprofits & elevate the level of LGBTQ philanthropy.” The grassroots LGBT org
