The 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were presented in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, April 12th. Ricky Martin presented Britney Spears with the Vanguard Award for her support of our LGBTQ community & TV producer Ryan Murphy presented Jim Parsons with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award that is presented to an LGBTQ media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting LGBTQ acceptance. GLADD Media Awards were present for Outstanding Drama Series to This Is Us (NBC) accepted by Denis O’Hare presented by Rachel Bloom & Ben Feldman, Outstanding Individual Episode in a series without a regular LGBTQ character "Thanksgiving" Master of None for Netflix accepted by Lena Waithe & presented by Halle Berry, Outstanding Kids & Family Programming winner was Andi Mack, Disney Channel. Outstanding Comedy Series went to Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX) accepted by Chelsea Peretti, Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero & producer Dan Goor & presented by Chloe Grace-Moretz & Tom Payne. Then Outstanding Film – Limited Release went to A Fantastic Woman, Sony Pictures Classics, Outstanding TV Movie or Limited Series went to the Cleve Jones mini series When We Rise (ABC), Outstanding Comic Book presented to Black Panther: World of Wakanda (Marvel Comics), Outstanding Daily Drama was The Bold & the Beautiful (CBS) & more. Wanda Sykes hosted the event & celebrities sported blue “&” pins for GLAAD’s Together movement representing GLAAD’s work on intersectional issues including immigration, racial justice, women’s rights & LGBTQ acceptance. Saturday, May 5th at New York Hilton Midtown in NYC.
