Mayor Dean Trantalis To Be Honored

Fort Lauderdale Mayor & LGBTQ Advocate Dean Trantalis will be the recipient of the first-ever Pride Center at Equality Park “Alan Schubert Award of Excellence ” during the fourth annual Diversity Honors presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida at 7P on April 27th. Robert Boo, CEO of The Pride Center at Equality Park stated, “Dean Trantalis’ recent elected victory in the City of Fort Lauderdale makes him the first openly gay mayor of one of the largest cities in the South. As a passionate public servant & outspoken leader of civil rights & equality for many years, we are delighted to celebrate him as our inaugural Pride Center award recipient.” The globally renowned gala that benefits the Harvey Milk Foundation & The Pride Center at Equality Park will also recognize Dolores Huerta, preeminent leader of the Latino, Labor & Women’s Civil Rights Movement, with the Harvey Milk Foundation Honors Medal plus honor Craig Stevens, WSVN-TV anchor, David Richardson, Florida State Representative serving District 113 & current primary candidate for Congress in Florida's 27th District & the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Gay-Straight Alliance for their local efforts in making a significant impact on improving the quality of life for our LGBTQ community. The important celebration serves as a kick-off to Harvey Milk Day events around the world & spotlights those who are transforming lives by living authentically & advancing inclusiveness. WSVN’s Lynn Martinez will emcee the event.
