Fierce gay ally Kristin Chenoweth has a new album “Some Lessons Learned” available September 13th. It’s an exploration of the Oklahoma native’s Southern roots a journey that will continue with her role as Carlene Cockburn in Steel Magnolia writer Robert Harling’s upcoming ABC drama Good Christian Belles. She was recently interviews by The Advocate. When asked about the new album Chenoweth stated, “Every album I’ve done felt personal to me at the time & obviously this one is about some lessons I’ve learned — both good and frustrating & hard & wonderful. I read my Bible and I pray and all of that. I really do. But at the same time, I don’t think being gay is a sin. Period. I would ask, ‘What would Jesus do?’ It sounds so cliché and Pollyannaish, but I have a feeling if he were on the earth today, he wouldn’t be walking around saying, “You’re going to hell” and “You’re wrong, you’re wrong, you’re wrong.” I think he’d be accepting and loving.
