SAGE App Empowering LGBTQ Elders

SAGE the fabulous org dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ older people is celebrating the 4th year of its app dedicated to addressing the financial needs of LGBTQ seniors. SAGECents offers a wealth of tools, information & resources to help users build financial stability & reduce economic stress. Heather Seggel, a 54-year-old SAGECents user from Ukiah, California stated, “Aging while poor is often scary & no joke. A program like SAGECents can help take the fear out of getting your finances in order. Reading SAGECents topics & questions has helped me get more focused on reducing my debt & avoiding taking on new debt.” A new stady from HRC reveals that LGBTQ adults in the USA particularly transgender & non-binary individuals are significantly more likely to experience financial insecurity. Nearly half (48.1%) of LGBTQ adults report financial struggles compared to just 26.9% of the general public.
