Standing on Ceremony is a new play addressing gay marriage that will be presented to more than 40 theaters across the country. The curtain will rise beginning Nov 7th on Standing on Ceremony an evening of new short plays by an amazing lineup of writers including Mo Gaffney, Moises Kaufman, Neil LaBute & Paul Rudnick. The play will also have an open-ended run in NYC beginning on Nov 7th. The NYC cast includes: Craig Bierko (The Music Man), Mark Consuelos (All My Children), Polly Draper (Thirtysomething), Tony winner Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Tony winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone) & Richard Thomas (The Waltons and Race). The LGBT org Freedom to Marry has partnered with Standing on Ceremony that tells the story of our LGBT families dealing with this timely issue. Freedom to Marry is proud to partner with Standing on Ceremony, which tells stories of life and love with laughter and tears, following committed gay and lesbian families through the ups and downs of building a life together -- in short, the reasons why marriage matters to gay people, too.

The evening will feature an introduction before the play and a post-performance Q&A from New York City that will be streamed live to participating theatres. Each theater will have its own reading of the play. Audience members can participate in the Q&A by submitting questions via Twitter using the hashtag #marriageforall. Freedom to Marry Founder and President Evan Wolfson will speak as part of the introduction and Q&A.
