Boston Gay Pride Parade’s Political Agenda

By Charlotte Robinson, June 09, 2012
Today the 42nd annual Boston Pride Parade is scheduled to kick off at noon & for the first time in years it’s sunny with no rain in the forecast. This being an election year Governor Deval Patrick will be leading a group of volunteer supporters for President Obama. Patrick is the national co-chair of Obama's re-election campaign. Deval & the Obama for America volunteers will gather on Boylston street between Dartmouth & Clarendon streets at 11:30A. Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren also plans on marching in the parade. Hopefully Senator Scott Brown will be nowhere in sight with his weak LGBT equality stance. We have a lot to celebrate this year with Obama becoming the first president to come out for gay marriage & GLAD (Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders) will be marching after their victory with the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that section 3 of DOMA, (the Defense of Marriage Act) which denies us of our 1100+ federal benefits is unconstitutional. Now most likely marriage equality will be headed to the Supreme Court. Then of course every local pro-equality candidate will be marching seeking our votes. There will also be tons of floats & marching bands & just fabulous fun. We’ll be taking pictures & have a full update after the parade. HAPPY PRIDE BOSTON!! Exclusive Audio Interview with Orlando Del Valle who serves on the Board of Directors of The History Project. Del Valle’s photos are part of a significant art exhibit “Pride: 40 Years of Protest & Celebration” that The History Project is presenting in collaboration with the Boston Center for Adult Education & runs through June 30th at the BCAE more @ OUTTAKE VOICES™ OUTTAKE VOICES™ NOW ON HUFFINGTON POST...:) Hear Audio Interviews w/ LGBT Leaders @OUTTAKE VOICES™ SUPPORT OUR QUEST @ OUTTAKE™ EQUALITY STORE...:) View Our Historic Short Trailer on Gay Marriage
