A Reflection After Stonewall 50th

By Charlotte Robinson, July 07, 2019
One week ago we attended the historical NYC Pride Parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stonewall with a record crowd estimated at 5 million people. Yesterday was London’s turn to as hundreds of celebrated in central London for the United Kingdom's largest LGBTQ pride parade. June 2019 has been an amazing month kicking off our pride festivities in Nashville, Tennessee with “GLAAD + Ty Herndon’s The Concert for Love & Acceptance” at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville on June 6th after interviewing Zeke Stokes, GLAAD Chief Programs Officer & country singer Ty Herndon to talk about the Concert & LGBTQ issues on OUTTAKE VOICES. Then returning to attend the Boston Pride Parade which had its largest event ever. Next we were finally in town to attend the Boston Spirit Summer Sunset Cruise supporting Fenway Health on June 12th. In the midst of it all we also interviewed Stoli LGBTQ ambassador Patrik Gallineaux & artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer about Stoli Vodka’s special “Spirit of Stonewall” Limited Edition bottle designed by Thalhammer to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, filmmakers Kate Davis & David Heilbroner about their documentary Stonewall Uprising that’s available on PBS’s American Experience & Lisa Cannistraci owner of the legendary Henrietta Hudson about her pride events & her relationship with StormĂ© DeLarverie who threw the first punch at the historic Stonewall Inn Riot on June 28th in 1969. Now that we have passed this important golden anniversary of Stonewall let’s strategize & continue the work to achieve worldwide equality. Let's do as Mahatma Gandhi stated & "Be the change that you wish to see in the world".
