Gearing Up For Pride Season

By Charlotte Robinson, April 26, 2018
In Washington, DC Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) announced several updates related to the community’s on-going dialogue as we approach another season of Pride. The past year has seen continued attacks on & erosion of our LGBTQ rights & acceptance making this Pride more important than ever to come together in all our elements to demonstrate our resilience & strength in the national capital region, across the country & around the world. Ryan Bos CPA Executive Director stated, “We believe strongly in the spirit of our Pride theme this year, ‘Elements of Us’. Every LGBTQ+ & allied person’s life is composed of a kaleidoscope of identity, including race, sexuality, gender, ability, age, spirituality, experience, beliefs, goals & so much more. Who we are links us to each other & to the LGBTQ+ community. Since our founding, Capital Pride has strived to respond to the individual & collective concerns of our diverse community & worked to respect & address them. I am proud of the progress we have made in several areas & committed to continuing the work to be better, while continuing to provide a space for a Pride experience that encompasses the many aspects & opinions of what makes our communities so unique.” Capital Trans Pride Day kicks off on Saturday, May 19th. Capital Black Pride runs through Memorial Day Weekend in our nation's capital May 25th to 28th & the Capital Pride 2018 celebration runs June 7th to 10th in Washington, DC.
