World Premiere Boys In Trouble

By Charlotte Robinson, April 03, 2018
The World Premiere of trailblazing transgender choreographer Sean Dorsey returns to the stage with Boys In Trouble a new evening of dances that unpacks masculinity with unflinching honesty from unapologetically trans & queer perspectives at Z Space at 450 Florida Street in San Francisco, CA April 19th to 21st. It’s a true transsexual confession of an unabashed love letter between queer black men. A send up of all things macho, a queer spin on butchness with real talk about whiteness. Boys In Trouble is an invitation to look deeply at shame, a witness to hurt & heartbreak & a roadmap for another way. Boys In Trouble is an extravaganza of full-throttle dance, raw emotion, irreverent humor, exquisite queer partnering & super-vulnerable storytelling all performed with Sean Dorsey Dance’s signature precision, guts & deep humanity. The timely performance hits the stage as America grapples with toxic masculinity, the trans revolution & renewed attacks on trans & LGBTQ rights. In turns powerful, explosive, devastatingly honest, humorous & sexy, offering an urgent & relevant examination of American masculinity’s deep roots in trouble. Boys In Trouble is performed by Sean Dorsey, Brian Fisher, ArVejon Jones, Nol Simonse & Will Woodward. Original music is composed by Alex Kelly, Ben Kessler, Anomie Belle & LD Brown. Tickets are Thursday 8P $15-$30 sliding scale, Friday 8P $15-$30 sliding scale, Saturday 4P with ASL interpretation $10-$30 sliding scale & Saturday’s Gala 8P $20-50 sliding scale.
