Bill Clinton Supports Gay Marriage (Video)

By Charlotte Robinson, September 26, 2009

It's so predictable when a statesman like Bill Clinton comes out for gay marriage after signing into law the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) September 21, 1996. Thirteen years of hardship has been inflicted on our LGBT community & their families by the unconstitutionality of this legislation. Now he tells CNN's Anderson Cooper in this video that he thinks gay marriage & gay adoption is ok. However he still thinks that it should be a state to state issue. The question I wish Cooper asked was now that gay marriage has passed in 6 states, what about our federal rights & protections for our legally married LGBT families?

I was against the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage nation-wide, and I still think that the American people should be able to play this out in debates. But me, Bill Clinton personally, I changed my position. I am no longer opposed to that I think if people want to make commitments that last a lifetime, they ought to be able to do it.
