The LGBTQ Presidential Forum sponsored by GLAAD, One Iowa, The Gazette & The Advocate will be live streamed Friday Sept. 20th 7P to 9P CT from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The 2020 presidential candidates confirmed to participate include Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren & Marianne Williamson. During the Forum each candidate will present their vision for improving LGBTQ acceptance across the nation at a time when LGBTQ issues have largely been absent from the national debate stage. Angelica Ross (Pose & American Horror Story) will host. Ross is a leading figure in the movement for transgender, racial & human rights equality. Sarah Kate Ellis, President & CEO of GLAAD stated, “This LGBTQ Presidential Forum is a pivotal moment in the 2020 election cycle. It’s the first time that LGBTQ issues will be exclusively discussed by 2020 presidential candidates on a national stage. We look forward to hearing how the 2020 candidates plan to reverse the attacks & rollbacks of the Trump Administration & put LGBTQ Americans on a course to 100% acceptance.” The LGBTQ Forum comes as the 2020 presidential election conversation has so far failed to address LGBTQ specific issues during nationally televised events. LGBTQ Americans have faced more than 124 anti-LGBTQ attacks in policy & rhetoric from the Trump Administration including the President’s ban on transgender Americans from serving in the military & the administration’s opposition to the Equality Act. Multi-platinum recording artist Billy Gilman will perform the National Anthem at the event.
