OUTSHINE LGBTQ Film Festival In Miami
By Charlotte Robinson, March 30, 2022
The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami is back, bolder, brighter & in-person beginning April 22nd through May 1st. OUTShine returns for this 24th edition to unite the community through premier social events & programs that inspire, entertain, educate & encourage a sense of community. This year more than 45 international features & documentary screenings, panel discussions, three shorts programs, exclusive virtual showings, picturesque venues, Cocktails & Cinema Happy Hours & incredible parties will take place across various venues in Miami-Dade County. The festival will also honor Venezuelan actress, model & philanthropist Patricia Velásquez with a Vanguard Award. Mark Gilbert, OUTshine board chair & interim executive director stated, “This year’s OUTshine Film Festival theme is ‘Find Yourself Here.’ Audiences of all ages & backgrounds can find themselves represented & reflected in our films & can enjoy this experience with friends and family to spark meaningful conversations. Additionally, for the first time, in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, we’re reaching out to Latin American visitors with special travel packages to connect them via culture & film to our already diverse Hispanic community and word-class attractions & hospitality. As part of our inclusive mission, we’ve lowered admission packages & we’re offering special pricing & at-home viewing options to reduce the financial burden for all. It’s important to us to foster a sense of belonging through these shared creative endeavors.” Tickets are available for online purchase beginning March 31st & start at just $8 for individual films with group discounts & additional offers available.
