UPDATE: Prop 8 Read More....
The continuing saga of the Prop 8 trial is headed to court. Today in San Francisco Sept 6th gay couples, their allies & families will hold a “No Standing for Prop 8” sit-in on the steps of the California State Building. The sit-in will precede the California Supreme Court’s hearing on the standing issue. The hearing itself will begin at 10:00 AM at the Earl Warren State Building, 350 McAllister Street. Prop 8 was found unconstitutional after a trial in federal court. Those who oppose marriage equality are now trying to continue litigating the lawsuit. “You can’t keep litigating a lawsuit just because you don’t like something, you actually have to be harmed in some way. The simple fact of the matter is that the freedom to marry brings enormous benefit to gay couples while harming no one else’s marriage. Accordingly, those who oppose equality have no standing to continue the suit,” said John Lewis, Marriage Equality USA’s Legal Director.

Same-gender couples and their families will once again stand up for their love and dignity by attending the hearing and staging a ‘No Standing for Prop 8’ sit-in beforehand. Lesbian and gay people have been more than patient in their struggle simply to be treated fairly and equally. The time for full equality is now.
