Boston LGBT Film Fest Presents PARIAH

By Charlotte Robinson, November 20, 2011
Today Nov 20th at 6P at the ICA in Boston..:)
PARIAH is one of the best films I’ve seen this year. It’s an amazing coming out film that addresses how an Afro American family deals with their daughter’s sexual orientation. With such homophobia within the black community this is a film that all audiences should not miss. Its World Premiere was at Sundance in 2011 & Spike Lee is one of the film’s executive producers. PARIAH is disturbed by Focus Features & will be in theaters December 28th. The Boston LGBT Film Festival invites you & a guest to a special screening of PARIAH this Sunday, Nov 20th at 6P at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, MA. This special screening is by invitation only with a limited number of movie passes available so please register now. Director Dee Rees & Star, Adepero Oduye will host a Q&A session following the screening.

In PARIAH Alike beautifully played by Adepero Oduye is quietly but firmly embracing her identity as a lesbian. With the sometimes boisterous support of her best friend, out lesbian Laura played by Pernell Walker. Alike is especially eager to find a girlfriend. At home her parents' marriage is strained and there is further tension in the household whenever Alike's development becomes a topic of discussion.
