Last month we interviewed Gregory Lewis Executive Director of Cyndi Laupers True Colors Fund. This is the fabulous org that helps support LGBTQ homeless youth. The "Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays" concert was held at the Beacon Theatre & was a huge hit. The evening featured music from Cyndi as well as special appearances by Norah Jones, Amy Lee, Cassandra Wilson, Rosie O'Donnell, Wanda Sykes, Jon Secada, Carson Kressley, Chely Wright, Skylar Grey, Vanessa Carlton, Angelique Kidjo, Harvey Fierstein, Deluka, Debbie Harry, Alan Cumming, Randy Fenoli & Clay Aiken. Clay Aiken hyped the concert on his website leading up to the event as it's clearly an issue close to his heart. Aiken has been a crowd pleaser ever since his American Idol days & of course he is a strong advocate for our LGBT community. He performed the song "My Grownup Christmas List." It was a fantastic concert for a great cause & fans of Aiken's hope that substantial funds will continue to be raised for the project.For More Info: truecolorsfund.org

When I first learned that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in this country identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender I was shocked and saddened. This fall, the True Color Fund was able to open a 30 studio housing building in New York called True Colors Residence in partnership with the West End Intergenerational Residence which I co-founder in Harlem, New York for a diverse group of LGBTQ homeless youth. The residence has 30 studio apartments with indoor and outdoor communal space. Each resident pays affordable rent based on their income and receives job assistance if they do not have one. There are also social and educational programs provided. The goal of the True Colors Residence is to open similar facilities nationwide. The building is dedicated to serving the area's homeless LGBT youth, and the proceeds from Sunday night's concert will go to the True Colors Fund.
I try to follow what Clay Aiken is doing in his career and this Concert really made me aware of a sad and heartbreaking problem. I laud Cyndi for what she is doing and will follow her on FB and Twitter to see how I can help. Awareness!!!
Thank you, Cyndi, for your work benefiting LGBTQ youth. It is a worthy project and I support you. As a Clay Aiken fan my eyes have been opened to many causes and this is just one.

I attended the concert Sunday night at the Beacon. What a great celebration. It was an eclectic mixture of musical styles and performers. Each entertainer added excitement to the show.
I attended the concert because I knew that Clay Aiken was going to be a part of the program. I love hearing him sing and I know he is a man who really cares for the welfare of youth.
When Clay sang, it almost sounded like a prayer. It was an amazing performance.
I also enjoyed Alan Cumming. He brought such electricity to the show. I wish both Clay and Alan had been able to participate in the rest of the show.
Cyndi........you are an amazing person. Thank you for being such an advocate for LGBTQ youth.
