Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker addressed the VIP reception for Fenway Health Men’s Event Saturday evening at Boston Marriott Copley Place. In his short but personal speech Baker congratulated Fenway for the great work that they do & pledged his support to the LGBT community. Baker stated how proud he is of his gay brother Alex who married when Massachusetts made it possible for his brother & thousands of other gay men & women to legally marry the person they love. He concluded his speech by saying that there will be many Republicans like himself that will be filing their amicus briefs to the United States Supreme Court to finally secure marriage equality nationwide. The black-tie Men’s Event fundraiser raised over $700,000 in support of the life-saving programs & services at Fenway Health. This year James Morgrage was honored with the Congressman Gerry. E. Studds Award. Morgrage is a strong supporter of LGBT civil rights & HIV/AIDS causes & a longtime friend of Fenway Health. Comedian Jimmy Tingle served as Men’s Event emcee while Boston funk superstars Booty Vortex & DJ Gay Jim from Kiss 108 provided the entertainment. This year’s event was made possible thanks to the hard work of event chairs Justin T. Isaac, Brian Ramos & Joblin C. Younger, Esq. Other attendees also included Fenway’s Board Director Liz Page, CFRE pictured with Harry Collings owner of “Back Bay Harry’s”.
