The Men’s Event is a black-tie fundraiser for Fenway Health that brings together more than 1,300 gay, transgender & bisexual men & their friends for a night of dinner & dancing. The Men's Event will take place next Saturday, March 9th at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. The evening gets underway at 6P with mingling & a silent auction. The program & dinner start at 7P followed by dancing. This year the Congressman Gerry E. Studds Award will be presented to Marc Solomon for his leadership in advancing the cause of marriage equality. As National Campaign Director for Freedom to Marry, Solomon leads the organization’s programs to win more states, grow the majority for gay marriage & end federal discrimination. Freedom to Marry played an instrumental role in successful efforts to secure the freedom to marry on the 2012 November ballot in Maine, Maryland & Washington, as well as to defeat a constitutional amendment in Minnesota. The Congressman Gerry E. Studds Award is given at The Men’s Event to honor individuals of integrity & selflessness who embody the spirit of service & provide positive leadership for the LGBT community in honor & memory of Studds who passed away in October 2006. Entertainment will be provided by Booty Vortex, Boston’s finest funk, soul & disco band playing the best dance tunes from the 70’s, 80’s & beyond.
Jim Clerkin, better known as, Gay Jim from KISS 108's Matty in the Morning Show will be spinning your favorite hits to keep you dancing.
