We’re here in NYC to cover the Red Carpet for the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards tonight Saturday March 24th for OUTTAKE VOICES. This event recognizes & honors media for their fair, accurate & inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender community & the issues that affect our lives. It's always a fabulous star-studded event. This year The Vito Russo Award named for one of the founders of GLAAD that I had the pleasure of knowing when I lived in Manhattan in the eighties, is being presented by Bernadette Peters & John Stamos to film & Broadway producers Craig Zadan & Neil Meron (Chicago, Hairspray, Smash). The event is being hosted by Glee's Naya Rivera & Cory Monteith. Harvey Weinstein will present a Special Recognition Award to teenage anti-bullying advocate Katy Butler. Guests include: Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn); hip hop icon Russell Simmons; Megan Hilty (Smash); Padma Lakshmi (Top Chef); MSNBC's Thomas Roberts; Vinny Guadagnino (Jersey Shore); Adepero Oduye & Kim Wayans (Pariah); Carson Kressley (Dancing with the Stars); Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir & his husband Victor Voronov; Ted Allen (Chopped); Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato (Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys); Tracey Gold (Starving Secrets with Tracey Gold); Wendy Williams (The Wendy Williams Show); Laverne Cox (Musical Chairs); Jay Manuel, Isis King (America's Next Top Model); Janet Mock (People.com); Emil Wilbekin (Essence); Annette O'Toole (Southern Comfort); & GLAAD Acting President Mike Thompson. Attendees will enjoy performances by singer Todd Alsup & The Rockettes. Though this list is beyond the spectrum of gay celebrities & allies we understand that there’s more names to come. Including my friend Robear from TLC’s New York Ink. The event takes place Saturday March 24th at the Marriott Marquis 1535 Broadway, NYC.
