Target Sues Gay Activists

By Charlotte Robinson, March 25, 2011
Target is back in the news trying to ban gay activist groups
from talking to their customers entering & leaving their
San Diego, California stores. LGBT org "Canvass For A
Cause" is being sued by Target for chatting up customers
outside their stores about gay marriage & the controversy
over the $150,000 donation Target made supporting an
anti-gay unsuccessful Minnesota Republican gubernatorial
candidate. This morning, Superior Court Judge Jeffrey
Barton will listen to arguments from both sides.
“The fundamental American right to free speech is at the
heart of this case”, said Tres Watson, Executive Director
of CFAC who is a San Diego resident. CFAC volunteers
also note that other groups are also talking to customers
outside Target, including veterans orgs & Girl Scouts.
Looks like Lady Gaga was so right in not being involved
with Target pulling out of her deal with them for her
new CD "Born This Way". Updates to Come...:)

Actions like this by an organization that has a history of funding groups opposed to LGBT equality like Target are unacceptable. The desire to protect our families should not be offensive to Target, or its patrons. Our families deserve the same dignity and respect as that of any parent who loves their children, and Target Corp. needs to understand that gay and lesbian folks have the same hopes and dreams as anyone else.

Tres Watson, Executive Director of Canvass for a Cause
