Lady Gaga Off Target

Just when we thought it was safe to go back to shopping in Target after they said they would mend their homophobic ways in order to secure an exclusive deal with Lady Gaga for her new CD Born This Way, we learn that the deal is off. I actually set foot in Target last week for the first time in months. But as usual they didn't have what I was looking for. Target came under fire last year by LGBT activists when it was exposed for donating corporate funds to MN Forward, a PAC that supported anti-gay candidate Tom Emmer in his failed 2010 run for governor of Minnesota. "Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups & begin to reform & make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past ... our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community & to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those [anti-gay] groups." Lady Gaga had stated.

A source close to Lady Gaga confirms that the entertainer has dissolved her deal with Target over the chain's controversial political donations. "She and Target didn't see eye to eye on Target's policy of political donations and how they affect the LGBT community."
A publicist for Lady Gaga confirms the dissolved deal: "Lady Gaga and Target came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago.”
